Tamatanga has been an award-winning Indian restaurant in Nottingham for almost a decade. In late 2017, the second branch was opened in Birmingham.
Housed on Navigation Street, Tamatanga is a vibrant 140 cover bar and restaurant offering all day Indian dining.
Diners at this family friendly restaurant will enjoy filling and well-priced meals. Everything is prepared from scratch using local produce, even the spices are ground by hand at the on-site kitchen.
Tamatanga’s specialities are thali’s, an Indian meal made up of a selection of various dishes, which are served on a platter.
The menu is truly mouthwatering, with a selection of Indian starters, curries, and of course, vegetarian options. Rice or naan is included with each of the main courses and tandoori options are also available in chicken, lamb and salmon.
The menu is wide and varied; if you have space, there’s also an amazing dessert menu offering anything from cheesecake to brownies and the popular Indian favourite, kulfi.
Not only does Tamatanga offer great food, but the drinks menu will leave you spoilt for choice. Visitors can enjoy 2 for 1 cocktails from 12pm to 7pm, daily. There is also an extensive drinks menu with wines, beers, cocktails, soft and hot drinks.
The restaurant aims to be “known for offering consistently good quality food, service and atmosphere. It’s about serving up comforting food that just happens to be Indian.” From my visit when the restaurant initially opened, I’d say that it’s winning on all fronts.
I really enjoyed my experience of Tamatanga’s newest restaurant in Birmingham. As soon as you enter the restaurant, you enjoy a bustling atmosphere. The staff are friendly and accommodating, food is fresh, fantastic quality and well portioned and the extensive drinks menu is an added bonus.
If you’re a fan of Indian food, then a visit to Tamatanga is a must.
