I’ve taken a little hiatus from travel in the past few months whilst enjoying the city of London and refocusing on a particularly busy period at home and work. With this in mind, I was happy to have a chance to experience a Thai massage at a new Central London parlour, Thai Kosai, just ahead of the Christmas break.
I arrived early to Thai Kosai on a weekday evening to be warmly greeted by Chris and Kanjana, the owners of the massage parlour.
Whilst waiting for my treatment, I was offered a selection of teas and a seat in the well presented reception area, appropriately decorated to bring the Thai theme to London.
Thai Kosai offer a range of treatments including deep tissue and traditional Thai. Having tried out a few different massages on my previous trips to Thailand, I opted for the aromatherapy massage on this occasion to loosen the knots and tension that had built up in my body.
After a short wait I was shown to a dimly lit therapy room and left to undress. My therapist, Nisa, came to introduce herself before beginning the treatment and explaining each step of the massage. She also checked whether the pressure of the massage was OK and regularly checked that I was comfortable. I immediately felt relaxed in the suitably heated room, and the atmospheric music ensured that I promptly drifted off to sleep!
After waking up from my snooze, we continued to talk, discussing her homeland in northern Thailand and the variety of massage techniques used across the country. I also enjoyed discussing the practice of aromatherapy massage and her personal preference, the traditional Thai massage which is particularly good for stretching muscles and joints.
Throughout the massage, Nisa remained professional, friendly and courteous. When the massage was complete, Nisa offered tea before she left the room for me to redress.
All staff at the parlour are qualified professionals and the environment is comfortable and accommodating, ideal for escaping from the busy London streets.
Thai Kosai is located just a few minutes from Liverpool Street station, making it very accessible from pretty much any part of the city. It’s open until 9pm Monday to Friday, perfect for dropping in after work or even during your lunch break – the usual duration is either 30 minutes or one hour.
