Tenerife is one of the Canary Islands, and is one of the most popular with tourists. Famed for fantastic beaches and relaxation, the adventurous and active types might be a little turned off by the promise of tranquility. Tenerife is much more than sand and sun however, and if you are in search of a few more thrills it could well be the holiday destination for you. See if any of the activities below get your juices flowing, then book Cheap Tenerife Holidays for your next getaway at http://www.directholidays.co.uk/destinations/spain/canary-islands/tenerife.

Jet Skiing

Anyone can try their hand at jet-skiing in Tenerife, and regardless of if you are a seasoned pro, or have never seen a jet-ski in your life, there are schools here that can cater for you. Kids can have a go at this too, but only if the driver is over sixteen years old. Safety is paramount, so check the provider has the relevant safety certificates and don’t just go for the cheapest deal. To make it even more fun, get your whole group involved and race around the sea.

Scuba diving in Tenerife is phenomenal. You can see rays, turtles, barracudas and even sharks amongst other creatures you may encounter. The water is clear and the marine life is vibrant and beautiful making this a great place to scuba for the first time, or the hundredth. The best schools are on the south coast so head here for the ultimate diving experience.

Deep Sea Fishing

For something altogether different arrange a fishing trip with one of the crews from the harbour or marina. Tenerife has always been a big fishing island and it is no different today. Go in search of tuna, barracuda, marlin and sailfish with local fishermen and you’re sure of a good haul.

Whatever your bag, when it comes to water sports Tenerife has it all. Slow or fast paced, energetic or relaxing, enjoy the miles of coastline from the water rather than the sand next time you visit this fabulous island – even if it just means bouncing around on a giant inflatable banana!

  1. Tenerife’s all year round warm climate and calm seas, make it an ideal place to jump into the water with a mask and snorkel to get a glimpse of the astounding marine life that can be found metres from the shore line, you don’t even need a wetsuit!
