A 5-star stay at Eurostars Hotel, Berlin #byExpedia

Entrance of Eurostars Hotel

As part of the #byExpedia Berlin Bloggers competition, I had to choose a hotel to accommodate my boyfriend and I for the duration of our stay. Having perused a selection of hotels on the Expedia website, I settled on the Eurostars Hotel, a five-star complex located on Friedrichstrasse; the heart of Berlin and a perfect base from which to explore the city.

Upon arrival at the hotel, we received a warm welcome by the Receptionist who confirmed that our room was ready and all facilities were available except for the hotel pool. Unfortunately it was having its annual service but an alternative pool was available in a nearby hotel. To be honest we didn’t miss it as Berlin is jam-packed with activities to keep you occupied.First impressions of the hotel were positive, the facilities and decor are all to a high standard and the entrance had a prestigious feel that is maintained throughout the hotel.

After an early start from Heathrow Airport, we were keen to check out our room and get settled so we headed straight to the fifth floor to room 505, our home for the next five days. The room was clean and modern with a fantastic bathroom featuring a waterfall shower and massage jet function.

Our spacious double room provided a comfortable king-sized bed that provided a great nights sleep – very relaxing after a busy day around the city. The in-room tea making facilities and flat screen TV were also welcome additions albeit featuring several German channels (our BBC World channel didn’t work). Take it as a chance to learn more of the language, or just watch the cartoons as we did :-).

Being a city-centre hotel, it is to be expected that there would be some street noise, however the blackout curtains and increased privacy due to slide door between bedroom and entrance way created an unusual, but incredibly peaceful atmosphere in the evenings. The rooms are notably sound proofed, with not a single noise from in or outside the hotel getting into the room.

Rooms also have controllable heating and air conditioning (which we certainly didn’t need in January), allowing you to really get settled in complete comfort.

Hotel facilities include the afore mentioned pool as well as the fitness room and sauna, all of which were clean, modern and perfectly functional. The facilities tend to get busy on weekday mornings but at the weekends I was able to have the fitness area pretty much to myself – an added bonus as I prepare for the forthcoming trip to Brazil ;-).

Our booking had included breakfast which proved to be varied with a hot and cold buffet of fruit, cereal, cold meats and pastries. There’s so much included to the breakfast menu that it’s bound to suit all appetites and with it being self-service, you’re really able to fill up before a busy day (something that we welcomed to kick-start each day).

We stayed for four nights at the hotel and really enjoyed being there. From its ideal location (Friedrichstrasse S-Bahn and U-Bahn is literally metres away), functional yet well-presented rooms and helpful staff, it really was a fantastic stay. Nothing was ever too much trouble for the Reception staff. They seemed happy to help with printing documents when needed, phone calls and translations, all of which contributed to a hotel that I would gladly visit again.

Sincere thanks to Expedia UK and readers of the Ad-lib Traveller for providing this opportunity for me to visit Berlin, Germany.
