I’ve been a little quiet for a couple of days as I had to do some travelling (UK only) with work. London to Somerset to Birmingham to Leeds to Liverpool to Birmingham and home to London. Fair to say I’m quite tired right now despite having just awoke in my latest hotel.
Now this is my very first time staying at a Holiday Inn Express, so I felt a blog post was needed as so far…. Well it’s pretty good!
Relatively easy to find, my sat nav infamously “lost data connection” en route, but when I got here at just after 10pm last night, I was pleased. The receptionist was friendly, explained the details of my booking. I was mainly pleased to see a friendly face after my hours on the motorway and someone that didn’t give the hard sell on their members club (I explained that I was tired and would take a look in the morning – which I did and subsequently joined :-)).
My room is number 215 on the second floor and a view of the car park. The room itself was tidy, clean and surprisingly everything seemed quite new.
The bed was super comfy and little touches like labels on the pillows to choose ‘soft’ or ‘hard’ gave it a noticeable edge on other business hotels.
The following morning, I was pleased to find that breakfast was also fresh, hot and complimentary for all guests – added bonus!
With a choice of cereals (cornflakes, weetabix or muesli) or hot food (sausages, eggs, toast and beans) your are sure to find something to fill the gap. There are also fresh croissants, muffins and a range of teas available.
The key question I guess is “Would I stay again?” Honestly, yes I would. For either business or pleasure I would be happy to consider the hotel. Staff are friendly, rooms are clean and as spacious as you would need for a couple of nights and with its city centre location it is handy if you plan to do sight seeing.
