My boyfriend and I had already decided to enjoy our favourite Thai cuisine. As we were already in the Bourse Beurs area of the city, we browsed a selection of other restaurants to find somewhere that looked appealing for our late Saturday night treat before deciding upon Au Lotus Thai, a Thai restaurant which was a five minute walk from the nearest metro stop.
Initial expectations were high, the staff were very friendly and keen to explain the menu despite it being a busy period. We instantly felt at home in the restaurant which had a very ‘homely’ feel. Following a keen greeting into the small but busy restaurant, we were promptly shown to a table and provided with menus. The vast menu provided many options, however we settled on a red Thai chicken curry served with boiled rice, chicken rice noodles and chicken and lemongrass soup with coconut milk. There is also a great selection of drinks available, but we settled for ginger tea and Jupiter beer.
Whilst waiting we were served with prawn crackers however the food was promptly served within a few short minutes. Not only was it fresh and tasty but it was of a very high quality and well presented. The portions are large and prices are fantastic for the quality and service that is received. For tasty food of a good standard, I would certainly recommend Au Lotus Thai.
