Mitsis Blue Domes Resort, Kos, Greece

I had the benefit of being able to visit the Mitsis Blue Domes resort in September for one week with my two best friends for what would be a girly holiday.

The location of the hotel is around 15mins drive from Kos town where there is nightlife, bars and the marina. This trip costs around £8 one way.

Upon arrival, we were thrilled to find that we were being accommodated in a beachfront Villa at the resort. This allowed us the benefit of our own pool and lounge areas as well as wine and fruit basket which was topped up each day. The Villa was made available to us as an upgrade following issues that we had experienced from a previous stay, resulting in us being invited back on this occasion and would otherwise have cost a pretty hefty amount!

The Villa itself is truly a wonderful place to stay – very spacious, clean and well maintained with the emphasis on luxury. We had two double bedrooms, walk-in closet, wet room and separate bathroom, along with an all inclusive mini-bar (stocked every single day) and fruit basket provided fresh each morning. Truly fitting for a luxurious holiday at a five star, all-inclusive resort!

The resort itself is beautiful with a mix of accommodation including bungalows, stunning to look at with excellent landscaping of the pools throughout the resort. There are plenty of walk-ways and nowhere ever felt as though it was too busy – there is simply so much space that you can relax and enjoy the luxury.

Being an all-inclusive only resort, food and drinks are not charged at all, including alcohol of which there is a lot of choice. The waiting staff are happy to serve any type of drink upon request, particularly at the pool bar. There are around 10 restaurants at the resort, all serving food from across the world. Whether your seeking Asian, Mexican, Greek, Sushi etc, there is definitely something to suit all tastes. There is also an amazing pancake house which is open until 2am should you have a desire for a midnight snack. We tried several of the restaurants and always found the food to be fresh, tasty and well prepared. The benefit of so many places to eat allows you to feel that you aren’t in an all inclusive resort as every night you can effectively try a new restaurant – it is impossible to become bored of the food unlike at other resorts.

My experience found the waiting staff to be very welcoming, hospitable and friendly which makes all the difference when you want to enjoy the break. The food was always freshly cooked and felt healthy, rather than the usual ‘sluggish’ feeling after a large meal.

There is an entertainment team on site who do performances every evening, from karaoke to dancing, all of which can be great fun to watch. If you are seeking nightlife, there is also Club Zone on the premises of the Norida resort – a short walk – where the DJ plays a range of the latest music (or others upon request!) The same team also run classes during the day, for example Aquarobics, which we tried and really enjoyed as a great way to maintain the fitness whilst away. For the health conscious, there is also a small gym on site although depending upon the time of year, you may find it a little too hot to work-out indoors!

The beach is of a good size with numerous loungers and umbrellas around.Towels are available for hire with a refundable deposit which is encouraged by the hotel to avoid use of bathroom towels on the beach. If you are fortunate enough to stay in a Villa then you will have allocation to a reserved beach hut for the use of your group only – nice touch to avoid the rush for a lounger.

The vast size of the resort with it’s mix of accomodation for all budgets allows it to easily accommodate travellers from all backgrounds, be it for a romantic break, a family getaway or just an escape for some sunshine. It is a true all-inclusive resort – your hand will never need to touch your purse 🙂

Overall, we had a great holiday in a place where we were made to feel welcome and truly spoilt! We left feeling refreshed, relaxed and inspired to consider returning again should the chance arise.
