An all-round treat at Hotel Amano, Berlin
Opened in 2009, the Hotel Amano is a fully serviced affordable apartment-style hotel consisting of 163 rooms that offer stylish and high quality furnishings, not just in the rooms but across the full breadth of the hotel. Every last detail is carefully thought out.
Features of the hotel include bicycle hire at a very reasonable 12 euros per day, pedestrian navigation systems and iPod docking systems for in-room listening. The hotel also has a popular roof terrace (where you can get a great view of Berlin whilst enjoying the open-air structure) and bar that really comes to life in the evenings. The appropriately named Amano Bar is where the art of cocktails has been truly mastered.
As we were travelling as part of a larger group I had arranged two rooms between the group, opting to share a twin room with my travel partner. We hadn’t been quite sure of what to expect from the hotel, despite booking several months in advance, but first impressions were positive. Clean, comfortable beds and multi-functional lighting to suit the well-arranged space of the room greeted us as soon as we entered.
In addition to this, the rooms include a functional kitchenette area which would be ideal for a longer stay in Berlin – microwave, kitchen sink, fridge and kitchen utensils to make your stay really feel like home!
Our room also included a walk in wet room, spacious and well-equipped with toiletries and freshly laundered towels each day.
The breakfast area at the hotel is located on the ground floor where guests are invited to help themselves to the fresh and tasty food. It includes the traditional continental options that would be expected of this class of hotel, but also a cooked option of eggs and bacon or breakfast cereals for a lighter option.
During the course of our 2-night stay I tried just about everything and had no concerns whatsoever. Everything was freshly laid out and replenished frequently. Oh, and the hot drinks machine makes amazing lattes for that early morning boost!
The hotel also includes an enclosed outdoor area on the ground floor for guests use, a great space for enjoying the weather (as we did on that particular weekend!) or to of course to play tabletop football on the equipment provided.
Overall, Hotel Amano is a fantastic city oriented hotel that is suited for both business and personal travel. The location is ideal for sightseeing around the city of Berlin and with the option to rent a bike, there is no option but to make the most of accessing the city however suits you. It’s just a short walk from one the world’s best bars, Buck and Breck and is well-suited for a comfortable stay in Berlin.
