‘Take Me, I’m Yours’ at Chooks

Chooks Chicken in Muswell Hill is a fantastic little place that my boyfriend recently stumbled upon. As we love to try new places in and around our home in London, we decided to opt for Chooks as it was close to home and their website offered a great looking menu of what I can only describe as ‘gourmet chicken’ – a tasty and flavoursome variation of a top favourite dish – fried chicken.

If you didn’t think that it was possible to have a delicious, casual-dining experience of fried chicken in a retro-American atmosphere, well, it is. Right here in London, Gideon Joffe, son of the founders of the Giraffe restaurant chain, has graced us with buttermilk fried chicken, frozen jam-jar margarita’s and their own tasty yet mildly spiced barbecue sauce (which I loved). They even do a contest called the ’Chooks Inferno Wing Challenge’ that I really wanted my boyfriend to try, however we’ll save that for the next visit. Check out the photos below:

A parting gift from Chooks :-)

As a fan of Nandos and their concept around flame-grilled chicken, I could completely appreciate Chooks. Joffe brings us fried comfort foods in a stylish environment that is very fitting. Fact is, I really loved this restaurant. With it’s shabby chic furnishings, retro music, huge portion sizes and relaxed atmosphere it was a brilliant place to enjoy a relaxed date with my boyfriend and taste some mouth-watering food at the same time.

Top tip: Grab a booth and enjoy the atmosphere – order a platter and don’t be shy to ask the staff for their recommendations.
